When the sounder is feeding calmly under the net, convert The P.I.G. Hog Trap from training mode to trap mode and set the convertible cap. This is the last step in the setup series.
In Setup Video #6, we show how to drop the raised openings back to the anchors, angle the net, straighten the center ring, and decide whether to fly the cap or lay it flat.

Convert to Trap Mode
Loosen the two straps holding the raised openings. Take them off those points, bring them back around to the outer anchors, and tighten.
Angle the Net
Walk the circle, pull the net to the correct angle, and straighten the center ring. Keep the cables running clean in the circle.
Set the Convertible Cap
If deer pressure is high, feed slack and lay the cap flat. To use the cap, walk the rope around the trap, cinch it over the top, wrap it on a post, and half-hitch it off. Place bait in the middle. The set is now in trap mode.
Setup Tip: Only convert after the sounder is feeding calmly inside. Switching too early can catch part of the group and educate the rest.
Training Mode vs. Trap Mode
Training mode keeps openings raised so hogs feed under the net and get used to it. Trap mode drops those openings back to the anchors so hogs can push in, but exit is much harder.
The convertible cap helps with jumping hogs. Lay it flat if deer pressure makes the cap a problem.
