After the posts, anchors, and straps are in place, put The P.I.G. Hog Trap in training mode. This is the conditioning step. Hogs need to walk under the net, feed, and relax before you convert to trap mode.

Raise Two Openings
Loosen selected straps across from each other and create two openings the sounder can see through. Hogs are more willing to enter when they can see out the other side.
Set Net Height
Pull the cable and net so the center sits high enough to discourage deer. Keep the sides low enough that the net still brushes the hogs’ backs as they come in.
Bait and Wait
Scatter bait lightly under the net, mainly in the middle, with a little at the openings. Use only as much as they will eat in a night. Let them feed and relax for one to three nights, or longer if they are shy.
Setup Tip: Do not rush this step. Training mode is finished when the sounder is feeding calmly under the net, not on the first night they find the bait.
Why Training Mode Comes First
Training mode teaches the whole sounder to use the trap. If you convert to trap mode too early, you may catch only part of the group and educate the rest.
When the hogs are relaxed inside, you are ready to convert to trap mode.
